Coffee with collagen

You cannot go wrong when it comes to coffee with collagen. Below I’ll share how I make my favorite and most delicious, dairy-free, low-sugar coffee with collagen. Also check out this quote from Cleveland Clinic.

Collagen’s main role is to provide structure, strength and support throughout your body. Collagen’s specific roles include: Helping fibroblasts to form in your dermis (middle skin layer), which helps new cells grow. Playing a role in replacing dead skin cells.

Why collagen? Is it any secret anymore that collagen is number one for skin health, for muscle recovery, for joint health and so much more.

I’ve been using collagen for a year now and truly notice a difference when I use it. In addition to the benefits of collagen, there are also benefits from caffeine in the coffee you’ll receive!

benefits of caffeine from coffee

“Coffee is effective at fighting free radical damage because it increases the amount of antioxidants in the blood. Two of the key antioxidants responsible for the majority of coffee benefits are chlorogenic acid and caffeic acid, both of which can help protect cells against damage and oxidative stress.”

See that, coffee is amazing for us! It’s usually all of the ingredients we put INTO coffee that make it fattening, and harmful to our arteries.

There are truly so many different ways you can make this, below is just the way I do it at home. With minimal kitchen appliances.

kitchen tools needed for the coffee recipe:

  • high-powered blender, any kind will do but I have this one which works great.
  • coffee maker: pour-over, drip coffee pot, or Kuerig work. We have the linked coffee pot and I love it.

Serving Size:

Time:
12 min.
Difficulty:
easy, beginner

Ingredients

  • 2 shots of espresso, OR 8 oz. strongly brewed coffee, OR 1 Keurig Starbucks coffee brewed at 6oz.
  • about 11g of Grass-Fed Pasture-Raised Collagen, like this one.
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk, or milk of choice.
  • 2 TBSP your favorite dairy-free creamer, I like this one.
  • one heaping 1/4 tsp. cocoa powder
  • cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice for topping.
  1. Brew the coffee. I have used espresso, brewed coffee and pour over. Whichever method you choose will be delicious. As long as it is strong. (You’re making a cross between a cappuccino and latte.)
  2. Add the milk and creamer to your Nutribullet. Add any additional sweetener, if you feel you need. And add about 1/4 cup of your coffee to bullet. (CAREFUL with hot coffee, by only adding a small amount of coffee to the bullet will allow it not to get too hot and seal the lid.)
  3. Once the 1/4 cup of coffee and milk are in the bullet add 1 scoop of chocolate collagen. And cocoa powder.
  4.  Blend in the bullet.
  5. This creates a foam on top of the coffee, which is delicious.
  6. Pour the coffee into your favorite mug and top with cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice. You could even put a splotch of almond milk whip cream on top.

This is a completely dairy free drink, which is low in sugar as well! I consider it a health food. It is loaded with collagen, caffeine, protein-rich, and a little bit of antioxidants from the cocoa powder. Enjoy!

This is one of my favorite ways to enjoy the health benefits of collagen and the small amount of caffeine from the coffee!

I encourage you to take a before, and after picture of your face before introducing collagen into your life, and then a month later. Although there are no guarantees I know for myself, I have noticed a difference in the smoothness of my skin! Here’s to collagen.
